Matsushima isn exactly friendly to cycling at the moment due to the large amount of tourists and their buses as well as the ongoing recovery construction from 3.11.If you get back up there, check out Zuiganji Temple, and the ice cream stand right outside. You can see just how much far the tsunami came inland compared to the places around Matsushima to see how the bay islands protected the area.
